Goal
The primary goal of this program is to educate for professional practice in the field of human services. The curriculum has been developed in response to the changing need of the city and state and reflects the recommendation of former students, practitioners, and agency administrators in the field of human services. This program has been designed for the purpose of increasing the number of Latino, bilingual professionals, with the values, skills and knowledge necessary for academic and professional leadership in the area of Human Services.
Objectives
- to increase the student's ability to work with individuals, families and children in the new complex urban environment.
- to work with groups, based on a comprehensive knowledge and application of group dynamics theories.
- to apply their skills in the theory and practice of community organization and development.
- to provide input into the development of public social welfare policy, particularly as it affects the Latino community.
- to provide leadership and supervision in those social service agencies with a large Latino clientele.
- to increase the capacity of practitioners to evaluate their methods of human services delivery.
