Goal

The Generic Studies program is the CORE liberal arts and science base of all degree programs offered by the College. Therefore, a student who has declared in writing his or her major area of study in any of the College's bachelors degree program offerings, may be considered to be in progress towards that chosen degree. An Associate in Arts degree may also be awarded upon completion of the CORE program.

Objectives

The CORE Curriculum consists of 60 credits of academic work with the following objectives:

Quantitative Requirements: 60 credits (for core curriculum requirements only) For an Associate in Arts degree an additional 8 credits must be taken in consultation with the faculty and Chairperson of the Generic Studies Department.

Important: A student who achieves a grade of U (unsatisfactory) in a course must repeat the course. Students will continue registered in the Generic Studies program until the Dean or Associate Dean determines that progress to the BS/BA degree programs is appropriate.
