Goal
In the past decade business has been influenced dramatically by new economic, social, political and technological forces. The old ways of interacting with employees, customers and the general public are no longer effective. Moreover, the changing language and cultural diversity of the marketplace dictate that the day-to-day operations of a business be guided by a leader who is aware that decisions are contingent on the capacity to communicate effectively. Thus, a program that develops professionals in business must concern itself first and foremost with developing decision making skills in Management. The skills and competencies of management and decision making are generic and applicable to both the private and public service sectors. The college's program, therefore, trains professional decision makers capable of functioning in the fields of business, banking, service industries and government.
Objectives
The Business Administration Program was developed to achieve the following objectives:
- to provide opportunities for Puerto Rican and other Latinos to develop the values, skills and knowledge needed to realize their aspirations in the field of business.
- to provide New York City with a cadre of trained bilingual business generalists with humanistic values, who can work in the public and private sectors.
- to enable students to achieve the Bachelor of Science degree opening the door for further professional training in the field of Business Administration.
