Goal

Realizing the importance of Inter-American relations, Boricua's inter-disciplinary curriculum at the senior level, focuses on the peoples and nations of the American continent and its contiguous islands, North and South. Students are provided a sound foundation for subsequent graduate and professional training in the field of domestic and international affairs.

Objectives

The Inter-American Studies program has been developed to achieve the following objectives:

  • to develop in students, the intellectual and affective skills, values, and knowledge necessary for professional practice in Inter-American settings.
  • to provide undergraduate study in the interpretative disciplines such as literature, history, religion and philosophy.
  • to provide undergraduate study in the scientific or “instrumental disciplines” such as anthropology, sociology, political sciences, economics and others.
  • to provide students with a geopolitical orientation of the North and South axis, running through the American continents and its contiguous islands, and thus prepare them for professions in civil service, the private sector or graduate studies.

Colloquium
Completion of a minimum of 12 credits and Four colloquia are required, at least three in the disciplines of Political Science, Economics and Sociology.
