New York State Special Legislative Grants 2000-01


THE ELECTRONIC CLASSROOM

During the year 2000 Boricua College applied for a New York State Special Legislative Grant with the endorsement and support of Assemblyman Hon. Danny Farrell. We received funding confirmation and approval for the development of an Electronic Classroom in the Manhattan Campus.

Purpose:
The Electronic Classroom will provide the students with a variety of online, multimedia and other interactive opportunities. The college specifically aimed to strengthen student's academic performance and achievement in mathematics and English. It will also supplement and enhance other Boricua's library resources now available to the students in the production of academic work for all of their courses and will increase the College's ability to individualized its curriculum offering.

Target Population:
Over 90% of Boricua's students are of an ethnic minority, mostly Hispanics and African Americans. Over 78% of our students are female. The electronic classroom will be available to our entire student population.

New York State Special Legislative Grants 2002-03

 

Mini Electronic Science Labs – Proof of Concepts

During the year 2002 Boricua College submitted a New York State Special Legislative Grant application. With the support and encouragement of Assemblyman Hon. Danny Farrell we receive approval for our grant.

Purpose
The purpose of this project is to enhance HEOP student's knowledge and skills in the natural sciences through computer assisted learning (CAL). The college will develop three mini electronic science laboratories using networkable computer workstations. With the help of these laboratories, compounded b lecture courses in science, it is expected that students will learn scientific concepts, theories and methods and laboratory skills to conduct scientific experiments.
